Christmas Around the World and the Holidays of Light explores the world's rich holiday traditions and cultures that celebrate them.
Celebrate the season
Christmas Around the World started in 1942 with one tree. Fast forward seventy years and enter me. By 2012 MSI was exhibiting over fifty uniquely adorned trees, eight displays of non-Christian traditions and regalia and diverse daily cultural music and dance performances.
As an exhibit, CATW is a multi-headed beast that requires time and bodies to appease it's annual resurgence. A crutch for my stint as design was having huge tent pole exhibitions as the foundation for design, including the entirety Dr. Seuss' catalog, Charles Schulz' Peanuts Gang and Walt Disney's royal family from the house of mouse.
Yorktown Shopping Center
Additionally, I was put in charge of designing a large scale satellite display at Yorktown Center Shopping Mall. These fun asides stretched my creativity and required me to expand my understanding of how Christmas could be handled for us as an institution.
